Located in Spokane WA, Terrain is a groundbreaking nonprofit that believes everyone needs art — and that a more just and vibrant Spokane is possible through creativity, economic opportunity, and the collective action of everyone who dares to create.

In addition to large-scale events (Terrain, Bazaar, BrrrZAAR) highlighting hundreds of artists and attracting 10s of thousands of attendees, Terrain also runs a retail storefront (From Here), a gallery space (Terrain Gallery + Annex), an art-driven beautification program (Window Dressing); a professional development program for artists (Creative Enterprise); and a bi-monthly workshop series for arts-based businesses (Terrain Talks).

Event by event, program by program, artist by artist, Terrain transforms the landscape of our city by breaking down barriers and creating platforms that inspire.

In 2023, Terrain’s programs and events generated $1,190,550 in art sales and artist payments — OVER A MILLION DOLLARS! — and $981,283 of that went directly back into the pockets of local creatives.

We are committed to promoting social justice through the equitable distribution of wealth, opportunity and social privilege in everything we do.

For Terrain, this means being intentional and inclusive about who is represented on our Board, committees and staff; cultivating diversity among the artists we serve and programs we produce, fighting for and advancing racial equity, and creating meaningful and responsive partnerships with individuals and groups within these communities from which we can learn and grow stronger.
