For the past 18 years, we've been proud to serve this community, helping people with disabilities off the sidelines and into the action. Your generous gift makes a direct impact on those we serve throughout the region, including hundreds of our neighbors living with autism, down syndrome, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, amputations, paralysis…whatever. We celebrate what they can do - and we get to do it with your support.

When he was 13 years old Kyle was on the way to Twin Valley on the day after Christmas break. The car hit black ice, and they were t-boned by a work truck. His sisters walked away, but Kyle was paralyzed. He still graduated from PSU on time. Through IM ABLE’s programs that include and challenge people like him, Kyle has been reaching his goals and then setting new ones.

A few weeks back, IM ABLE’s Operation Lead from the Front Program took a team of 58 veterans, volunteers, and people with challenges to Blue Mountain to do the Spartan Race. I was helping Kyle get through the mud pits and asked him if he wanted to take a break and skip the cargo net.

“We are doing every single obstacle on this mountain – so quit askin’ me!” – Kyle, with a HUGE smile on his face.

We completed every obstacle, including the rope climb at the end, with help from the team. You can see his pure joy in doing something he thought he may never get to do.

These adaptive athletes have the exact same grit, drive, and passion for sports as everyone else. They just need the right equipment and supportive community to get out there.
