My name is Evertt Hurtado, and Valley of Hope started because I lived the pain I’m trying to fix.

For years, I worked two jobs, fought through court systems, survived policies that didn’t match reality, and watched families—including my own—struggle because no one in power stopped long enough to hear what was actually happening to us. What I learned is simple: people don’t fail the system. The system fails the people.

I didn’t build Valley of Hope as a slogan or a hobby. I built it because I had to.

I’ve spent late nights, early mornings, and every spare minute studying Wyoming policy, auditing the Child Support Program, comparing global justice models, drafting frameworks, building reports, and fighting for due process one page at a time. Not because anyone paid me — but because families like mine deserve someone who will do the work even when it’s hard, even when no one’s watching.

Everything Valley of Hope produces is public.
Every report, every finding, every framework chapter — all of it is online for anyone to verify. Transparency isn’t a talking point. It’s the foundation of who we are.

This organization is built on one belief:

If we show people the truth, we can build systems that protect, support, and restore families instead of breaking them.

I’m doing this full-time now because Wyoming families don’t have another generation to lose. We need reform rooted in data, compassion, and lived experience — not bureaucracy and guesswork. Valley of Hope is the path forward.
