Just as the City of Sealy has deep roots in this historic area of Texas, the Virgil & Josephine Gordon Memorial Library has been serving the community since 1979.

A community library is an important recourse to the community,

They foster literacy of all kinds. Literacy is a critical factor in economic and social participation, removing barriers to education and employment. They create healthy communities. Today’s libraries are vibrant neighborhood hubs offering social interaction and shared cultural experiences. They support culture and creativity. They provide public spaces.
