Brawler: Dusty Rutherford

I am the pastor of New Horizon Worship Center in Waco, Ga. I have been married to my beautiful wife for 16 years, and we have 3 boys, that I am extremely proud of. Growing up as a Rutherford was a bit different, my dad was a pastor, I had 9 younger siblings and we were homeschooled. Being the oldest of 10 taught me a multitude of things, some of those being, patience, leadership skills, and the ability to be tough and never give up. As a teen, I loved all 5 Rocky movies. We even bought gloves, so that my brothers, my friends and I could fight each other. I have always dreamed of stepping into the ring, although I never thought it would be at the age of 35. I can't think of a better reason for that dream to become a reality. It doesn't get any better than fighting for what you believe in!

My Cause: House of Cherith at City of Refuge and The Campground at NHWC

House of Cherith

Sex trafficking is second largest criminal enterprise in the world. As the number one city in the United States for sex trafficking, Atlanta is home to a staggering 12,400 transactions each month. The House of Cherith serves as a safe and refreshing home for victims of sex exploitation and trafficking. The goal of House of Cherith is to provide women with the opportunity for rescue, restoration, and a chance to start a new life.

I have personally seen the dramatic and life changing transformation of some of the women that have defied the odds and have new life because of House of Cherith. This ministry is like non other, and these women deserve a chance at joy, peace and healing. We as a people cannot turn a blind eye and allow this injustice to continue. With your help we can fight this!

The Campground at NHWC

The Campground at NHWC is located in West Georgia, it is much more than a place to get away. The heart of this ministry is to provide refuge, peace, relaxation, a refreshing and a refilling for the weary. How is this achieved? Each year this campground hosts camps/retreats for kids, youth and adults from all areas and walks of life. Some of these people include men from rehabilitation programs that focus on substance abuse, women from House of Cherith, young men from mentorship programs, kids in need of a safe place to have fun and be loved, and anyone looking for regeneration. The heart and vision is to touch the lives of people, by showing them love with words and in action.
