A huge thank you to everyone that was able to attend our 10th Anniversary Celebration on June 22nd at UVA’s Arthaus Gallery – it was 10 years in the making! There were so many highlights from the event, but here are just a few: over 75 supporters attended to view our new exhibit Then and Now: UVA’s 10 Year Retrospective, featuring over 60 works of art created by 21 artists; the catered Mediterranean delicacies from Turkish Lazuri Cafe, located just down the street from the gallery, were a big hit with everyone; the guitar duo of Steven Manwaring and David McKindley-Ward entertained at the festivities throughout the evening; and in attendance were two loyal supporters – State Senator Will Brownsberger and Representative Kevin Honan.

Most of you know that UVA started small. We had 9 founding members and there were a lot of ups and downs. But we persevered, and today we are on the verge of becoming fully sustainable as an independent art organization and art gallery, and we’re looking for ways to do more. None of this can happen without continued financial support from our members and donors like you, as well as public art agencies and foundations.  

For our 10th Anniversary, we set a campaign goal of $30,000 and I’m pleased to announce that we have surpassed 80%. With these funds, we’ll be able to pursue initiatives and implement changes that will allow us to ensure the longevity of our mission, the well-being of our staff, and efficient utilization of our gallery space. For example, the Arthaus Gallery needs proper gallery lighting and adjustable window shades. We also need to pay our dedicated part-time employees livable wages. So, we’re asking everyone that can to consider donating again to our campaign. We Can't Do it Without You!

We have created many outstanding curated exhibits over the last ten years, and we are dedicated to our practice of highlighting important topics of interest and concern. These include environmental sustainability, gender and racial equity, health and wellness, and homelessness. This practice has uniquely defined us and we’re proud of that, as we believe that serving artists and creating impactful art exhibits should always go together. With your help we can continue to grow together!

We’re a community art gallery open to the public with high standards, and financial support is needed to sustain that vision. You are all part of our success and with your continued support UVA’s next decade will be even more spectacular. Thank you for all your support and belief in UVA’s mission now and for years to come!
