Board Governance Workshop (Full Day)
Co-hosted with the Association of Regional Water Organizations (ARWO) and the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA), this one-day training is designed for utility board and commission members. The Monday workshop focuses on core governance responsibilities, financial stewardship, risk and resiliency, community trust, and effective oversight, grounded in the Ten Attributes of Effective Utility Management. Participants will engage in real-world scenarios, peer discussion, and practical tools to strengthen board performance and leadership. This full-day workshop will take place Monday, August 31 at the Westgate Hotel, with a half-day tour of Pure San Diego following on Tuesday, Sept. 1. (Transportation provided from the Westgate.) There is also a pre-reception occurring Sunday evening, August 30.

Data Visualization Workshop (9 a.m. to Noon)
An optional, hands-on workshop in collaboration with Water Finance Assistance. This session explores how attendees can use clear, compelling data visuals to support financial conversations, rate discussions, and public engagement. Participants will work through real examples and leave with practical techniques they can apply immediately. This workshop will take place Monday, August 31 at the Westgate Hotel.

Public Speaking Workshop (1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

The Art of Advocacy: A Master Class in Public Speaking and Message Refinement

As leaders and communicators, we're asked to engage effectively with a variety of audiences, from boards to policymakers, and from media to community groups. In this tactical, hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to prepare your body, mind and content to confidently engage any audience - then level up your impact by mastering the art of successful message refinement.

Throughout her career, Christy has advocated for water issues with audiences ranging from President Biden and city councilmembers to national media and the utility workforce. Her training workshops are practical, fun and grounded in the real challenges and opportunities facing the water sector today.
