Why We’re Launching This Fund Now

Black women are facing a crisis, not just residual pandemic fallout. They are the hardest hit by recent DEI rollbacks and federal job cuts
In April 2025, Black women lost over 106,000 jobs, while the national unemployment rate remained near 4.2%. Their unemployment rate surged from 5.1% to 6.1%, the largest monthly spike of any demographic group
By May 2025, their jobless rate edged up further to 6.2–6.3%, compared to the overall national rate of ~4.2%
This surge is tied to a nearly 33% reduction in federal employment among Black women over the past year, driven by DEI program rollbacks—particularly in agencies like USAID and CFPB—stemming from executive actions since 2024
Black women suffered the steepest job losses during COVID and have faced the slowest recovery, compounded now by the current anti-DEI climate.

We refuse to wait for someone else to build the safety nets we need.

Our Purpose

We’re raising $100,000 to provide direct, no‑strings‑attached aid to Black women in crisis, delivered in real-time through The Croom Institute for Fund Development & Social Change, a trusted Black-led nonprofit committed to resourcing Black-led social change. Its founder, Kia Croom, has over 2 decades of experience and has raised $1B in donor funds.

80% ($80,000) will go directly to urgent needs: rent, utilities, groceries, medical bills, transportation, mental health support.
20% ($20,000) supports the critical infrastructure to run this fund effectively and transparently—from application vetting and privacy protection to outreach, impact reporting, and event logistics.
This cost is shared equally between the lead partners:
– The Croom Institute (fiscal sponsor and fund disbursement)
– Delnic Media (campaign execution, communications, and program delivery)

Every dollar raised supports the mission, either by meeting urgent needs or making sure we can do so quickly, securely, and at scale.

How It Works

Applicants complete a secure, simple intake form.
The Croom Institute confidentially verifies need and prioritizes aid.
Funds are disbursed quickly—no bureaucracy, no delay.
Recipients share progress updates, anonymously unless they choose to share their stories.

What $80K Can Do

- $150 = covers mental health services or transit to/from work
- $250 = provides 1-2 weeks of groceries for a household
- $500 = helps with utilities or covers part of a rent payment for 1 household
- $1,000 = pays for a car repair, urgent medical expense, or moving costs
