Freedom Five Campaign
Five Years After the Passage of SB 177, Help Us Secure the Next Five!
Five years ago, homeschool families across South Dakota worked alongside FAIRSD and the Governor’s Office to secure historic homeschool freedoms through SB 177.
Because of that victory:
Homeschool families now submit a one-time notification instead of annual paperwork.
Homeschool students are no longer required to take standardized tests.
Students can freely participate in sports and activities at their local public schools.
SB 177 was a tremendous win for homeschool freedom in South Dakota.
But protecting that freedom requires ongoing work.
Since its passage, FAIRSD’s all-volunteer board has worked tirelessly to ensure these freedoms remain protected and that new restrictions are not imposed on homeschool families. Our mission is to advance, protect, and secure Alternative Instruction rights in South Dakota.
To do that effectively, FAIRSD employs a team of lobbyists each year to serve as our eyes, ears, and voice at the Capitol—monitoring legislation, advocating for homeschool families, and ensuring our freedoms are defended.
That work depends on the support of families like you.
As we celebrate the five-year anniversary of SB 177, we invite you to help us secure the next five years of homeschool freedom.
Your support makes this work possible. Any amount you can give; $5, $50, or $500 goes a long way toward ensuring freedom for homeschool families in South Dakota endures!
