My name is Samuel Kaweesi, and I’m a 19-year-old high school student from Wakiso District, Uganda.

Life hasn’t been easy. I lost both of my parents when I was still young, and since then I’ve been doing everything I can to support my younger brother and sister with the help of my grandmother.

Balancing school, family responsibilities, and survival has been incredibly challenging — but I’ve never given up. My dream is to become a surgeon, and I believe education is my path to a better future for my family and my community.

Growing up through hardship has shaped my passion, my resilience, and my purpose.

🌍 Why I Started YECI

In my village, I watched climate change destroy harvests, dry up the soil, and make life harder for families already struggling to put food on the table. Seeing this suffering — and living through it myself — pushed me to act.

With the support of a school director who helped me stay in school through football, I learned about farming, environmental conservation, and community development. That experience inspired me to create:

What YECI Does

Teaches regenerative & sustainable farming
Plants trees and restores degraded soil
Educates students about climate and conservation
Supports schools and families with environmental programs
Brings youth together to build solutions for their own future

With your help, we are building a youth-led community permaculture farm and education center — a place where young people, farmers, and families can learn to grow food sustainably and restore the environment.
