At The Kiona Foundation, we believe that cancer treatment should not come at the cost of a patient’s quality of life. Our mission is to pioneer novel botanical drug discovery to develop less toxic, more effective treatments for all cancer patients, with a special focus on pediatric cancer.

Founded in memory of Kiona T. Jenkins (02/05/1994 - 01/24/2006) with our commitment strengthened by her sister, Carlene Omega Janae Samuels (05/07/2020 - 01/11/2024)—two beautiful souls lost to cancer—our foundation is committed to revolutionizing cancer care through research, advocacy, and education.

Our Focus Areas:

🔬 Research & Development – We are dedicated to botanical drug discovery, harnessing the healing power of nature to create safer, plant-based therapies for cancer patients. More than 50% of pharmaceuticals originate from botanicals, yet many life-saving plant compounds remain under-researched. We are changing that.

We also fight to bring attention and funding to pediatric cancer research, a field receiving only 4% of federal cancer research funding—a crisis we are working to change.
