The holidays can heighten feelings of isolation and loneliness. Your support can help bring connection and comfort to those who need it most. The loneliness and hardships faced by many older adults remain unseen, hidden behind closed doors. Having few visitors, and feeling lonely, isolated, and losing hope, we are there when people like Donna need help:

“...I’m looking into your program because I’m very depressed and my kids never come to see me. I’m looking for some help.... how do I sign up and how can I get help with happiness?”

Every day, we respond to older adults like Donna, offering a welcoming space to connect with others, explore new skills, and engage in creative activities—from technology lessons and drumming to poetry and art. This year we brought over 1,000 older adults out of the shadows into the warmth of friendship, laughter, and community.

The numbers tell part of the story:

Our intergenerational Digital Dividends Program expanded to 20 sites, providing free Chromebooks and hotspots, and hosting Tech Cafes for tech support.

The CitySites program grew to 23 locations this fall, offering arts & crafts, storytelling, games, and social events.

Creative Connections gave older adults the chance to learn something new through 6–8-week classes in topics such as painting, drumming, poetry, dance, and mixed media.

Our impact goes far beyond numbers. Yet with more than 127,000 older adults in Boston, and recent cuts to funding for emotional and social support, the need for our programs has never been greater—and your support has never been more vital.

We have a lot of work to do.
