Every child deserves a strong foundation, and every early learning educator deserves the support needed to provide it. Yet, high-quality, affordable childcare is scarce in neighborhoods affected by poverty and communities of color across Central Texas.

The RISE Center for Liberation in Early Childhood Education (RISE) Pop-Up Care Initiative addresses this gap by offering free or low-cost, culturally responsive childcare for mothers impacted by poverty and women of color and their children 6 weeks to 5 years old, creating safe, nurturing spaces for early learning.

Why Affordable Childcare Matters

Affordable childcare is essential for families, especially for moms impacted by poverty and women of color, who often live in childcare deserts with limited quality options. These communities face unique challenges, with children often entering K-12 schools behind their wealthier peers in development and identity formation.

Working mothers need safe, affirming, and accessible childcare to maintain their jobs and build financial stability. Infants and preschool-age children thrive in engaging, culturally affirming environments, where they can develop the skills needed for success in school and beyond.

The RISE Model

Our Pop-Up Care Initiative provides flexible, short-term care, supporting mothers in vital activities like remote work, job interviews, and professional training, reducing stress and helping them navigate the demands of work and family life. The care RISE provides is culturally affirming, safe, and supportive for babies, toddlers, and children

The early childhood educators that support the Pop-Up Care deserve financial stability and access to professional development to sustain their critical work. In order to ensure that all mothers are able to access child care regardless of their income, we have a funding gap that we rely on donations to cover. Every dollar you give will go towards the educators.

Here’s how your donation directly impacts Early Childhood Educators!

$25 covers an appreciation lunch for our childcare providers.
$50 renews CPR licenses for providers, ensuring a safe learning environment.
$100 funds a professional learning session for an educator, equipping them with new skills.
$500 provides classroom supplies to enhance the learning experience.
$1,500 supports one semester's tuition for an apprentice in our 2025 program, building the workforce we need.

About the RISE Center for Liberation in Early Childhood Education

RISE exists to ensure that every child and every working mother in Central Texas has access to transformative early childhood education—programs that enable working moms to create financial stability for their families and for children to build the essential foundation needed for success in school and life. We are working to dismantle inequity in early childhood education through anti-racist culture building, curriculum, training, coaching, and community partnerships that increase the number and quality of early learning environments, especially for working-class families and families of color.
