Shelter Pet Safety Net is hosting this campaign for the Bastrop County Animal Shelter - all donations to this event will pass through directly to the Shelter!

On February 25, Bastrop County Animal Shelter will be honored as the beneficiary of an incredible act of dedication and compassion by one of our community heroes, Ben Mewis - an Austin Police Department officer, ultramarathon runner, and longtime supporter of animals in need.

Ben and his family have adopted from our shelter and he has spent several years completing charity runs for causes close to his heart. Because of his personal connection to BCAS and his love for our animals, Ben has chosen to dedicate his next run to helping the homeless pets of Bastrop County.

Ben will be attempting an ambitious 40-mile solo run entitled "Mission Impawssible" from Bastrop to Austin, with the goal of raising both funds and awareness for our shelter and helping us move closer to our dreams of continuing to grow, improve, and expand to better serve our community and the animals who depend on us.

You can help by donating! All funds raised will go directly towards supporting medical care, supplies, and long-term improvements that allow the Bastrop County Animal Shelter to save more lives and provide better outcomes for pets who come through their doors.

We are beyond grateful for Ben's services, both in uniform and in our community, and for every single person who chooses to cheer him on, donate, share, and support this mission.
