In 2010, David and Drew Ann Long created the first shopping cart for older children and adults with special needs. They named the cart in honor of their daughter, Caroline, who is diagnosed with Rett Syndrome…Caroline’s Cart!

In 2020, they founded Caroline’s Cause, a non-profit 501(c)(3) that provides need-based scholarships to qualifying undergraduate students who have a sibling with severe disabilities. This is the only scholarship of its kind!

Special needs families are required to make a lot of sacrifices and often face medical costs that far exceed those of a typical family.  Caroline's Cause wants to help!  Parents win through our financial support. The student wins through the gift of an education. And the champion of it all is the brother or sister who makes it possible! It’s a win-win-WIN!
