THE MFI VISION
At MFI, technique building, personal embodiment, and collective cultural evolution are not separate goals—they are dimensions of the same work.
Social dance never exists inside of a vacuum—it is always in conversation with its cultural context. Its history is one of people gathering to resource, celebrate, express, and metabolize everything too big to be held alone, together. MFI seeks to continue this lineage of connecting the individual, the partnership, and the collective experience through gathering to study dance.
This event is designed to be rigorous and nourishing, structured and spacious, technically precise and relationally rich. Each year we iterate upon the foundation of what we learned the year prior, always in the direction of creating a place where the study itself is both a pleasure and a medium for collaboration.
WHAT IS MFI?
Myrtlewood Fusion Intensive brings together ~50 intermediate & advanced fusion dancers and 7 exceptional instructors in the forests of Oregon for a week-long immersion in Argentine Tango, Urban Kiz, and Brazilian Zouk. Through a focus on the cultural & historical context of each dance, as well as embodying the foundational technique through solo movement, MFI creates a container to honor and explore rich dance lineages that inform our Fusion dancing.
WHY DONATE?
MFI offers an unparalleled training opportunity to dedicated Fusion dancers—injecting inspiration, experience, and a passion for deep study into growing scenes around the country. We are committed to making this high-quality educational experience accessible to any passionate dancers experiencing financial barriers—and we need your help! Together, we are treating financial accessibility as a collaborative creative act—expanding what is possible when we resource each other. All donations are tax-deductible through our partnership with Pacific Fusion Collective.
