What is Girls in the Game?
- Girls in the Game is a nonprofit serving girls across Chicago, primarily on the South and West Sides of the city. We provide free sports, health, and leadership programs to girls who may not otherwise have access to programs due to financial and transportation barriers. We use sports as a tool to encourage girls to discover their strength, find their voice, and develop leadership skills. All of the proceeds from this class will go back to supporting Girls in the Game.
What kind of class is this? Is it beginner friendly?
- Barry's is a full-body, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class that uses treadmills and dumbbells for cardio and strength training. If you don't enjoy running or this will be your first class, you're in good company! This will be the first class for many GIG supporters, and walking on the treadmill is encouraged. The instructors know this will be many supporters' first class, so they will provide modifications throughout. That said, the class will be challenging, so come ready to tackle the challenge! We are in this together.
What time should I arrive?
- We ask that you please arrive by 11:35 am to ensure that you have enough time to get your machine set up. Class will start promptly at 11:45 am.
How long will the class be?
- The class will be 50 minutes long.
What should I bring?
- Please wear athletic attire that will allow you to move freely during class, tennis shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle.
Do I need to fill out a waiver?
- You will need to register with Barry's ahead of the class at barrys.com/register. Don't worry, we'll send a reminder before the class!
Is parking available?
- Barry's has a parking lot south of their studio, and there is metered parking along Milwaukee (side streets in the area tend to be permit only). he area can be very busy on a Saturday, so we suggest giving yourself ample time for parking or using public transportation.
