We're halfway (52%) to our goal, and the momentum and support is real and felt! 🤎 Additionally, 20 new recurring donors have already joined us, which means 20 individuals committing to helping us regain sustained support for our community. That consistency is what allows us to show up consistently for the people we serve. We cannot thank you all enough!

Why We're Raising $100K

Last year, The Okra Project lost over 662 recurring donors and critical funding due to our donor platform's bankruptcy and our previous fiscal sponsor's default on a settlement agreement. These losses created a substantial gap we cannot absorb while maintaining core services.

The broader reality: philanthropic support for organizations serving Black trans communities has contracted dramatically since 2019. We're entering a moment when our community faces unprecedented attack and resource loss, precisely when mutual aid and community care networks are essential.

This campaign sustains our operations and programming through the year, giving us runway to rebuild. Every dollar is an act of community care for the Black trans and gender nonconforming community we serve.
