Michael Sudhalter, CHISD Communications Coordinator, approached the Foundation with a request to set up an Annual Named Scholarship fund. In his words, "The Evangeline Paige Sudhalter Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship to honor the memory of our precious daughter who was stillborn in November 2015. We will reward two Cedar Hill ISD seniors who wish to study Medicine or Counseling in college." The Foundation accepted the challenge and set up a restricted fund in 1st quarter of 2021 for this purpose and provided the necessary fundraising and administrative support needed to make this scholarship a reality for our 2021 scholarship awards. In the spring of 2021 the first two scholarship were awarded in the amount of $250 each. A second campaign was opened for the 2021-2022 school year. This campaign started with a small carry forward and saw a well-spring of support. In the spring of 2022, two scholarships were awarded at $1,200 each. This just completed school year saw the award of two $2,000 scholarships and they were to twin boys.

Founded in 2002, the Cedar Hill ISD Education foundation is an independent non-profit organization. Between 2002 and the start of the 2022 - 2023 school year we disbursed and pledged $800,000. Included in this figure was the $41,955 check given to CHISD on May 19, 2022 for the Waterford Oaks Elementary Playground project. By the conclusion of the school year our given and pledged amount exceeded $1,000,000.
