I really hate having to write this, but I need to be honest about what’s happening right now.

At the shelter, we are currently caring for around 300 cats and dogs. Feeding them is a daily responsibility that cannot be paused or delayed.

The animals are given dry food as well, but many of them — especially those who arrived malnourished, dehydrated, sick, or recovering from surgery — cannot survive on dry food alone. They need proper meals made with chicken and vegetables to regain strength and stay healthy.

We rely on local chicken and vegetable vendors to help us prepare these meals every day. These are small market vendors who continued supplying us even when we couldn’t pay immediately, because they understood the food was for animals who would otherwise go hungry.

Right now, we owe:

$870 to the chicken vendor
$320 to the vegetable vendor

That is a total of $1,190.

Both vendors have now reached their limit and have told us they cannot supply any more food until this outstanding balance is paid. I understand their position — they also have families and bills — but this puts the shelter in a critical situation.

Without chicken and vegetables, we cannot properly feed 300 animals, many of whom are recovering from starvation, illness, or injury. Skipping meals or relying only on dry food is not an option for animals in recovery.

To help us address this urgently, there is a matching donation available of up to $1,000, which means every contribution made now will be doubled until the match is reached.

This debt didn’t come from waste or extras. It came from feeding animals who were rescued in critical condition and needed consistent nutrition to survive.
