Trauma Care for Ukrainian Youth

Global Good Works invites you to join the effort to support the future of Ukrainian families after over three years of a devastating war. Trauma Care Camps provide trauma-informed healing for trauma-exposed children to build trauma resilience and prepare to rebuild Ukraine.   Trauma Care Camp participants have been displaced from their homes and other locations multiple times due to the unfolding war.  Surviving ongoing instability, many losses, and intense danger creates a need for safety and healing for these youth, who are the future of Ukraine. To participate, it is  $390 per participant ($285 housing, food, program, and $105 per person for transportation from Ukraine to the camp - a 27-hour bus ride!). Our goal is to host two more camps this year. There are youth who have been identified from Mariupol, Ukraine, who now live in Dnipro. Be part of giving these young people memories and tools to carry them through the difficult days of war!

We have pioneered a model of bringing Ukrainian youth impacted by war to our Trauma Care Camp for a week of safety, healing, and hope.

Your donation will help provide the opportunity for trauma-exposed children/youth/adults, focused on:

  • each morning starts with reflection, gratitude, a devotion, and prayer
  • safety in a community of trained, caring adults
  • restorative sleep after deprivation due to the noise of sirens, drones, and bombs
  • three nutritious meals a day and unlimited access to food after experiencing food insecurity
  • movement and breath work after being indoors due to dangerous outdoor conditions
  • learn and practice resilience-building to increase social and emotional learning and coping skills
  • mental health needs assessment and connection with Ukrainian-speaking trauma specialists as needed
  • connections with others who have experienced the trauma of war, as well as Americans and other international volunteers
  • birthday parties (without balloons) for all participants who have missed celebrations (popping balloons can be auditory reminders of war)
  • arts and expression through music, drawing, painting, and journaling to process their experiences and build hope
  • self-defense classes to increase a sense of empowerment
  • team sports to experience cooperative efforts, normalcy, and fun
  • small groups for deeper connections and processing, and to extend learning beyond the camps
  • talent show to let youth share their creativity and talent

Global Good Works is committed to transforming lives through collective impact. Our model brings together the church, government, business,  and local and global neighbors to serve the most vulnerable. Your gift is tax-deductible.
