Giving Tuesday 2025: Taking Care of Our Neighbors

This Giving Tuesday, Guardians of Flushing Bay calls on our watershed communities to donate to two mutual aid groups supporting immigrant families in our watershed. Starting from now until December 9, 2025, 100% of funds raised through our Giving Tuesday campaign will go directly to these two groups responding to the urgent and emergent needs of watershed immigrant communities.

Why are we doing this? One of GoFB’s core values is to center communities with the greatest barriers to accessing a healthy environment. This year—as agents detain and deport our neighbors, pulling them from our watershed and away from their jobs and families—those barriers are more challenging than ever. In the midst of these threats, nimble, on-the-ground mutual aid groups play a crucial role in caring for our immigrant neighbors. We are honored to support their work.

Who are we fundraising for? At their request, we are not naming the two mutual aid groups. GoFB guarantees that both groups are local collectives (not nonprofits), embedded in local communities, providing resources to immigrant families, and organizing their neighbors to do the same. GoFB is endlessly grateful to our network for trusting us to direct support where it’s needed most.

Thank you, always, for your support.

Thank you—our beloved Flushing Bay and Flushing Creek community—for all you do to realize our radical vision of a healthy, equitably accessible, and environmentally just watershed stewarded by a thriving collective who takes care of the water, its coastal lands, and each other.
