"In the Zaporizhzhia region, there is simply a disaster with drinking water. These are the consequences of a dam explosion on the Dnieper. Now the quality of drinking water is very poor, soldiers have problems with their teeth."

So wrote one of our correspondents last week.

russia's destruction of the Kakhovka Dam left Zaporizhzhia with a nasty dearth of clean water. Clean water for drinking and washing is absolutely critical in the prevention of waterborne illnesses and, as the soldiers in Zaporizhzhia are discovering, dental health!

Soldiers of the 91st Operational Support Regiment are building fortifications, making crossings, laying mines, and clearing mines in the Zaporizhzhia region. They're doing it on 0.3 gallons, or just over 1 liter, of bottled water per day.

This does not do.

We've purchased 50 Sawyer 2-gallon gravity filtration systems for their stationary positions. They also need pocket systems for their sappers and drone pilots operating in the field.

Sawyer filters are the gold standard. They remove 99.99% of impurities, are rated to 300,000 gallons, and are individually tested.

We're giving them the same kit the US military gives its soldiers: a Sawyer filter paired with a winter CamelBak. Each system runs about $70. We'd like to get a minimum of 20 to send over with the 2-gallon gravity systems at the end of this month.
