A couple of weeks ago, I received a call from Layne Baugh, the director of discipleship for Love Africa Mission. He found out about me from one of the Titus Project Students who pastors in Arkansas alongside another pastor who is part of Love Africa. He informed me that there is a pastor’s conference scheduled for October 16-28 focusing on Hermeneutics. The pastor who was supposed to go on this trip had to back out due to some health issues within his family. Thus, they needed someone who had experience giving this kind of training and who is willing to go.
I am willing, and I have significant experience in training pastors. Fourteen years ago, I started the Titus Project, a training program dedicated to teaching pastors to preach/teach God’s Word to His people, and encouraging them to train up men within their churches to do the same. I also authored a book for pastors and laymen entitled Learn to Preach the Bible: The Titus Project Method, which is used in Titus Project training. So, after passing their vetting process, the Love Africa pastor’s conference leadership invited me to join them in October 2024 for this amazing opportunity.
While Love Africa has been in ministry since 2007, their pastor’s conferences are relatively new, with the first one occurring about two years ago. They started the pastor’s conferences in response to a group of local pastors asking for help in leading their churches. Many of the pastors have very little education or training, and they realized their need for help. The first conference was held six months later, with about 100 pastors in attendance. Since then, every Fall and Spring, they hold a pastor’s conference with an average of around 100-200 in attendance. Many of these pastors walk several miles each day to attend the conference, rain or shine. They have a deep desire for training, and I am told they ask so many questions that we will not be able to answer them all before we must head back to the US.
While I am in Uganda, I will be responsible to teach one of the daily seminars at the pastor’s conference, answer questions as part of a panel, and spend time with the local pastors investing in their work. Additionally, there is a school nearby associated with Love Africa and the refugee camp (100,000+ refugees) where we will be able to speak with the students, share the gospel, and answer questions.
I would like your support in this endeavor for the kingdom of our Lord. The first way you can support this mission is through prayer. Please pray for me and the team to be able to teach the pastors well, encourage them in their ministries, and give them the tools they need to faithfully preach/teach God’s Word to His people. Second, consider giving financially to support the cost of the trip. It will cost $2,900 to go on this mission. That amount covers the cost of airfare, housing, food, etc. If you are led to give, you can use the link provided.
Thank you, in Christ,
Tri Evans
