If you know me, you know that Emily’s Entourage (EE) is an organization that is incredibly close to my heart. My sister-in-law Emily has Cystic Fibrosis (CF), which is a progressive, fatal genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. 13 years ago, in search of something tangible they could do to fight CF, they co-founded EE - an innovative nonprofit that is laser-focused on speeding breakthroughs and a cure for people with nonsense mutations of CF, like Emily. Over the past decade, there have been amazing scientific advancements for 90% of people in the CF community... but, unfortunately, Emily falls within the outlying 10%. That means these amazing, curative breakthroughs don't work for her. That means we continue to fight. I'm running the Philly half marathon with Team EE! I'm running for Emily and the entire 10% - so we can help fund the breakthrough they need!! EE has already done some truly incredible work. Since 2011, the team has awarded millions of dollars in research grants, launched a CF gene therapy company (that was later acquired by a large pharmaceutical company), and led worldwide efforts to drive high-impact research and drug development.
