Below is one of my favorite pictures of my grandparents, Jean and Eugen Gluck, from their time together in Israel . This photo of them, standing side by side at the Kotel, makes me smile so big but also wonder - how did this happen? After everything that they went through, and after all the loss, how did they find it within themselves to continue, and not just to continue but to grow and thrive? There is no simple answer to these questions, but, for me and my family, this picture is a reminder of everything that we, as a Jewish nation, fight for on a daily basis - the right to practice our beliefs without fear of persecution. The Kotel is a place with so much meaning, so much history and even though they are no longer with us today, I will always feel their presence, especially at the Kotel.
My profile picture is a photo of my daughter, Gisella Jean Krinick-Gelnick (named after my grandmother Z"L) with her great-grandmother, Rae Krinick, the matriarch of our family. Grandma Rae and her late husband, Jack Krinick Z"L (Zaida) have taught Jenny and me so much. Their lessons have deeply impacted our lives and the way we wish to raise our family (B"H). We will do our very best to make sure our children know the amazing story of their survival and re-building.
