As a part of this year’s Campaign Kickoff, we’ll also be hosting a volunteer event that will involve putting together baskets for families/individuals moving into a new home after experiencing homelessness or domestic violence. These baskets will be full of essential items that any of us need when moving into a new home, but tend to add up quickly when you’re starting out with very little, like cooking utensils, laundry & cleaning items. United Way, with the help of our corporate sponsors, will provide the items to go in the basket.

If you’d like to show your support for the project beyond your volunteer time, baskets can be sponsored for $50 each. Last year we saw roughly 200 families move from from a homeless or domestic violence shelter into a new home, so our goal is to have 200 baskets sponsored so that we can provide this support to the next 200 families or individuals who are so close to being back on their feet after experiencing homelessness or domestic violence.
