Friends in Iowa City and beyond -- As many of you know, I just had a blast celebrating my birthday on the last day of RAGBRAI -- my 500 mile bike adventure across Iowa. And as it happens, another ride that is near and dear to my heart, the United Action for Youth "Ride 4 Youth", is coming up soon! I would love your help raising money for one of my favorite nonprofits in the area. Among many other things, UAY works to support ALL young people in reaching their goals through both PREVENTION programming (healthy community engagement outside school) and INTERVENTION programming (support, advocacy, counseling, etc.). One of my favorite programs is the SPRAK! Program. It provides positive, active community engagement for young people, especially those facing barriers to participation in activities that spark their interest (eg. youth of color, LGBTQ+, low SES...) Through these experience, young people can engage in positive interactions, explore new activities in safe spaces, form new friendships and make memories. I will be riding the longest, 55 mile route, and my goal is to raise at least $250 for this wonderful organization by September 17th! Any amount you're willing to give will be so appreciated by me and many young people in Iowa City!
