Receiving a scholarship from My Hometown Heroes would make a huge difference in my life as it would help me come closer to achieving my dream of becoming a real estate expert to help enhance communities with the real estate and marketing knowledge that I will gain from my college experience. Knowing that I would be closer to attaining my degree through financial help from the My Hometown Heroes Scholarship would provide a sense of motivation for me as I work through the hardships of being a young adult in college. Since there are a limited number of scholarships for young adults impacted by cancer, this scholarship opportunity already means a lot to me as it is aimed at providing funds for a variety of ages instead of one. If chosen as a recipient, financial burdens would become less and I would have the ability to focus more on my studies without extra stress in the area of finances.
In previous semesters, I have had to take out student loans to cover the rest of my tuition and housing expenses. Because of that, I decided to attend college as a commuter by living at home during my sophomore and junior years to reduce costs. As a senior, I plan on living on campus to wrap up my college education. I feel that living on campus ensures that you are more immersed in your university and its offerings. To be able to live on campus again would be something that I would love to do as I will be able to network with others more easily, attend more volunteer services, and join more organizations. This scholarship would allow me to work only my current job, rather than picking up more jobs just to afford my college experiences. This would give me the chance to be more flexible with my time to study, prepare for classes, and prepare for career fairs and professional job opportunities. If granted this scholarship, I would be able to do this without taking out loans, allowing me to leave college with less debt than I originally anticipated.
Overall, a scholarship from My Hometown Heroes would increase my likelihood of success in my last year of college, give me more time to work on myself and my goals and keep me inspired and hopeful of what my future holds. This scholarship would be something that I would remember for the rest of my life as it is something that would have changed the trajectory of my future in such a positive way if chosen. I will feel more confident and fulfilled from my college experience, and as always, will continue to do what is needed of me to further develop myself into a well-rounded professional both in college and after college. This scholarship would give me an extra boost to keep moving forward to achieve my goals.
