REACH of Haywood County invites the public to a free, special event, From Identification to Prosecution: Strengthening Community Collaboration, to be held February 11th and 12th, 2025, at Charles M. Beall Auditorium in Clyde, North Carolina.

Domestic violence cases are often epicenter cases. What starts out as a DV case becomes a multi-faceted case involving multiple agencies with the potential for rapid escalation, including multiple or mass murder.

This event will illuminate the complexities and identify why it's important for community-based agencies to work in collaboration with each other.

Sgt. John Guard of Pitt County Sheriff's Office is a nationally-recognized domestic violence law enforcement investigator. He will lead a discussion on everything from the need for healthy community collaboration to specialized approaches to evidence collection in domestic violence cases to the link between domestic violence and mass shootings.

Kit Gruelle is an advocate at REACH of Haywood County and has worked with domestic abuse victims and survivors for 37 years. While working in Chatham County, NC, she developed and coordinated the Bridges Program, a Coordinated Community Response (CCR) for victims of domestic and sexual violence and abuse.
