Support (TR)2

Friends and family, come to Lake Wheeler and meet us at the Oar Shed immediately following practice (11 a.m.) on Saturday, September 21, to support (TR)2—Triangle Rowing's Tuition Reduction program and experience rowing in a crew shell! The coaches will give participants a crash course, and then they will put their skills to work with what promises to be the best (or at least funniest) race of the season!

Before our time on the lake, ALL PARENTS are invited to meet new and old friends at the TRC Parent Tailgate. We'll meet in the athlete parking lot during practice (8-11), and you'll have the opportunity to enjoy snacks and coffee, ask questions, and get to know your fellow TRC parents and community.

Afterward, we’ll all meet at Trophy Brewery and Taproom to bask in the glow of our flawless technique and effortless speed on the water. EVERYONE is welcome to join us at Trophy. If you can't make it to the lake, join us for some fun after!

Participants must be 18+, and tickets are $50 per person. For those unable to make the event or who would like to invite family and friends to cheer from shore and/or meet us at Trophy, donations are gratefully accepted and appreciated but NOT required.

(TR)2 - Triangle Rowing's Tuition Reduction Program

The sport of rowing requires enormous dedication from team members and their families. The strength and confidence gained from this unique athletic experience will serve young rowers throughout their lives, but rowing programs are expensive. As a club, we depend almost entirely on registration and program fees to operate, fees that some families may find challenging.

Our team is our most valuable asset, and we never want financial barriers to prevent us from welcoming new participants. Your support of the newly established (TR)2 program is critical in our ability to provide the monetary boost eligible families need to bring rowing costs within their reach.

About TRC

The Triangle Rowing Club (TRC) is the premier youth rowing club and competitive team in the Triangle area!

Our mission is to promote character, commitment, athleticism, and teamwork in youth through the sport of competitive rowing. We are proud to welcome any participant willing to work hard and compete. We focus on turning young people into athletes who are both physically strong and mentally tough while nurturing teamwork, leadership, and good sportsmanship.

The club is open to students in grades 6-12 from all middle and high schools in the Triangle area. We have rowers from Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Garner, Apex, Holly Springs, and Wake Forest. We welcome rowers of all abilities, from novice to experienced, and strive to provide a fun, safe, positive, and stimulating experience. They learn to compete and work as a team, gaining valuable life skills.

The club practices at Lake Wheeler, about six miles south of downtown Raleigh. Our fleet includes doubles, fours, eights, and pairs. We participate in both sweep rowing and sculling events.

TRC competes in regattas in nearby states such as Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. Fall is for Head racing, in which boats race the clock in single file, with interval starts, over a winding course of up to 6,000 meters. In the spring, rowers compete in Sprints, head-to-head races in six lanes over a straight 2,000-meter course.
