Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was founded on January 13, 1913, on the campus of Howard University by 22 phenomenal women. We are indebted to these trailblazers who paved the way for the sorority to have approximately 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters worldwide consisting of approximately 350,000 college-educated women. The sorority promotes academic excellence; establishes positive public policy, highlights relevant issues, and provides solutions for problems in underserved communities.
The Suffolk Alumnae Chapter (SAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., was chartered on September 12, 1964 to serve the needs of the Suffolk community through its Five-Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement. SAC is committed to making a difference and positively impacting our community by raising funds to support our program initiatives and scholarships within Suffolk, VA.
