Domestic Violence is non-discriminatory; it transcends all gender, social, economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
As some may know, abusers can come from any demographic and their use of manipulation, intimidation, and coercion are not confined to specific groups. This is one of the many reasons there needs to be a greater emphasis on DV as it can go unannounced and both victims and abusers can have varied personalities and character traits. Kind, strong, and confident individuals can be victims, while abusers may present themselves as charming and socially competent in public.
The non-discriminatory nature of DV underscores the need for broad awareness, comprehensive education, and inclusive support systems that cater to the diverse experiences of all victims. Recognizing that anyone can be affected is crucial in fostering empathy, breaking down stigmas, and ensuring that resources and support are available to all who need them.
