William and Jacob's Story

My name is William Swint. The Sam Day Buddy Run is important to me because research is essential to increase the success rates among children's cancer patients and ensure a less harsh lasting effect on their bodies.  Anything we can do to raise funds and bring awareness in an effort to improve treatment options, needs to be done. In January of 2020, my son Mason was diagnosed with a Ewing's Sarcoma tumor in his left shoulder. This was the scariest thing a family could hear. The months that followed were filled with prayers, believing and fighting. After months of chemotherapy and radiation treatments Mason is cancer free to this day! Unfortunately, this is not the case for every family. I have raised money and ran the Sam Day Buddy run two times previously. The first year was in honor of my son, the next year was in honor of a young man named Miles Isbell. I never met Miles or his family, I did however follow them and correspond thru Instagram. I learned that the Isbell's are an amazing family with many people who love and care about them. I was very proud to represent Miles and his family for the run. Last October Heaven gained a young warrior too soon when Miles was taken. We should be doing whatever necessary to fund the research that will help the children fighting. Losing just one child to cancer is too many!

Please say a prayer for the kids, their families, consider donating and sharing the info about the Sam Day Foundation. Thank you!

I am running in honor of Jacob.

A note from Jacob's parents:

Jacob is a very sweet and thoughtful kid, who loves to make people laugh. Jacob enjoys playing basketball, video games, and building Legos. We love his positive outlook on everything, and his contagious laugh.

In May of 2023 Jacob was diagnosed with an Ependymoma. Luckily they were able to remove the whole tumor with surgery, and then we followed up with 7 weeks of radiation in Seattle. Jacob was a little bummed about not being able to play football anymore, and we will continue to have follow up MRIs every three months.

I think everyone should cherish every moment that they have especially with your kids. Everything can change in a second. We never thought we would experience anything like this, but we have been so blessed to have the support of family, friends, and organizations that have helped us through this process.
