MISSION STATEMENT

Founders Classical Academy of Lewisville seeks to provide an excellent and distinctively classical education that pursues knowledge, promotes virtue, and prepares students for prosperous lives in a free society.

The annual Founders Eagles Campaign provides FCA Lewisville students with opportunities to enhance their education and grow in virtue through activities inside and outside of the classroom -- fine arts, natural science, athletics, field trips and academic camps, community and civic engagement activities, campus capital improvements, and more.

This year, we are raising funds to continue to support the school’s ongoing programs and missions, and to:

Purchase consumable school books for students ($25,000-$30,000),
support landscaping improvements and campus beautification ($15,000)
help fund teachers' stipends for leading extracurricular student activities ($10,000)
contribute to a fund to beautify the exterior of the grammar school building ($50,000), and
add equipment for our athletics program and Hudl for our athletic coaches ($18,000).

$25,000 spent for 6th-12th literature books with our Eagles Campaign funds.

At Founders Classical Academy Lewisville we believe in the importance of teaching our students from an early age how to annotate in their literature books. Annotations make it easy to find important information quickly when you look back and review a text. It helps you familiarize yourself with both the content and organization of what you read. At Founders, we also believe it is important to start to build a personal library for the students. One they will keep with them for a very long time.

Every year our campus spends about $25,000 to purchase these great works for the students in 6th-12th grade to have their own copy that they keep. We don't add it to the supply list because we want to make sure that every student has the exact same copy.

CLASSICAL EDUCATION

Classical schools take an approach to education characterized by a traditional liberal arts and sciences curriculum and pedagogy, and an orientation towards truth, beauty, and goodness that aims to cultivate wise and virtuous citizens.

SCHOOL CREST

Our school crest represents our mission, and the principles we espouse. We promote Founding principles and a classical education, hence our school name is shown encircling the rich symbols within the crest. Our school mascot, and our nation’s national symbol, is the American Bald Eagle. The eagle stands for liberty and is protected with a shield of stripes and seven stars. The colors and symbols on the shield together represent the United States Flag, and the seven stars represent the seven liberal arts of classical education: grammar, logic, rhetoric, arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy. In the eagle’s talons are three arrows and a key; together they exemplify the fruits of classical education. The arrows signify recognition and defense of truth, beauty, and goodness, and the key represents the acquisition of wisdom. Finally, the school motto appears in Latin at the bottom of the crest. It is “scientia virtus et libertas,” which translated means knowledge, virtue, and liberty. The school motto expresses the idea supported by the Founding Fathers of our nation: if we wish to maintain our individual liberties and our societal freedoms, we must have a well-educated and virtuous citizenry.
