I am cycling for the children and families in Haiti who desperately need reliable access to basic healthcare. Haiti has long struggled to provide a health system with sufficient staffing, supplies, and infrastructure to serve those in remote rural areas. According to the World Health Organization, in 2018, there was less than one physician for every 4,000 Haitians. In 2021, Haiti H2O partnered with Haitian doctors and nurses to launch a quarterly medical clinic in the community of Plain Matin. This initiative expanded to the village of Bassin Caiman in 2022 and the community of St. Martin in 2023. Each clinic serves an average of 100 patients, many of whom walk for hours to receive care or access life-saving medications. The Bike4Haiti invests in the hope of rural Haitians to have access to basic medical care. The funds I raise will empower our Haitian partners to continue hosting these quarterly clinics, ensuring that more people receive the care they need to live healthier lives.
