2026 Girls Empowerment Camp

"I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change...I'm changing the things I cannot accept"

- Angela Davis

The Girls Empowerment Camp was established in the year 2025 under the direction of founder, Dr. Darrilynne Mazyck. It is located inside of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Baltimore, Maryland. This free, five-day summer experience equips girls ages 9–12 with the emotional strength, self-awareness, and practical skills needed to thrive and succeed in a constantly evolving environment. Our highly qualified staff members including Director, (Star Bey), Assistant Director, (Tarsha Everett) and a host of Camp Counselors and Medical Personnel work diligently to build confidence and hope in Black and Brown girls as they step into the turning point in their lives called Adolescence; when identity begins to solidify, self-worth is developed and young girls begin to imagine what their futures may hold. We believe that many Black and Brown girls confronted with social pressures, negative stereotypes, disproportionate school discipline, and expectations that quietly chip away at self-confidence and it is our jobs to remedy that problem. In addition to a fun structured environment, our campers receive the luxury of daily freshly prepared meals by Chef Jamonay Nelson to nourish both their bodies and minds.

The 2025 virtue was "Perseverance" and our campers learned how to be persistent despite difficulty. The 2026 curriculum focuses on "Resilience" which means growth, bouncing back from difficult situations, developing the confidence to never give up and the hope to imagine Life on a greater scale.

This is more than a week of camp; it is a foundation for lifelong confidence and possibility. Every girl deserves the chance to become the best version of herself and through mentorship, journaling, etiquette classes, structured challenges, wellness education, and life-skills workshops, each girl is afforded the opportunity to develop strategies to re-frame from inner criticism, help develop emotional regulation, plan for long term achievement and become resourceful problem solvers. Our hope is that each girl leaves with the understanding that mistakes are not failures (they are stepping-stones) and obstacles are not endpoints (they are opportunities).

Your support keeps this transformative experience completely free for families.

Help us make their dreams...Reality!!
