Education is foundational and is the core of what the American Association of University Women Port Townsend, (AAUW PT) branch does. Education improves lives and our understanding of the world and our ability to contribute to the greater good. AAUW PT supports women as they develop skills and knowledge as a pathway to professional opportunities and economic security.

Our scholarship program began with a $100 award more than 40 years ago. In 1994, AAUW PT members established the University Women’s Foundation (UWF), a 501(c)(3) organization. UWF was created to ensure the money our local branch raised could remain local. UWF has now surpassed one million dollars given out in local scholarships and educational mission projects here in East Jefferson County. In 2024, UWF set another record by giving an all-time high of $126,400 in scholarships and awards to 43 amazing local women and girls. This was followed in 2025 by awarding $126,200. We also provide grants to our local school districts and help support community educational projects and initiatives that align with our mission.
