継続は力なり。
“There’s strength in continuing on. Don’t give up.” -Japanese Proverb.
My journey as a runner has been unpredictably magical. When I took on my first marathon in January 2009, as a way to prove to myself that no one else would ever be allowed ever again to define what I am capable of, I could never have anticipated BQing and earning my first star in 2018, or being on the precipice of earning by 6th star in 2026. There’s been marriage, the birth of my boys, multiple moves, innumerable injuries and setbacks, joyous memories with forever friends, tears of fear, and ever deepening love for this sport since that first race. Running got me through some of the most soul crushing, gut wrenching, stressful and confusing times in my life. And as I prepare to write this final chapter in my world major journey, I would be remiss if I did not show and express my gratitude. In this vein, I am honored to join the Still;Run team in Tokyo to fundraise and support their mission to raise awareness for mental health, decrease stigma, and create community.
