At Ben Davis High School we work hard to meet the needs of the whole child. Not only do we strive for excellence in academics, but we also understand that their basic and personal needs are essential for them to focus their attention while at school. Each year, our students, staff, and school community hosts a service learning program called Project Secret Santa. With this project, our students sponsor children at our elementary schools who are in need by providing clothing and gifts. While this project provides our students with an altruistic opportunity to build their capacity to serve others and increase their sense of self-efficacy, unfortunately many of our students here are also in great need and there is no such program for them. The charitable offerings for students over the age of 16 are extremely limited.
With your help this Giving Tuesday we will leverage this international day of giving to help provide clothing and gifts for students in need at our school as well this holiday season. Clubs and student organizations at our school will shop for and wrap gifts for students (who will remain anonymous) at the high school giving our students the opportunity to support their peers as well.
