Fred Thornley III's Story

In March of 2018 my friend and colleague (Katy Guidone) passed away from breast cancer. She was a phenomenal teacher, avid runner, and coached our "running club" at Noah Webster school. She lifted our students and everyone she encountered, a truly lovely soul. I have continued her passion for running by training and becoming a marathon runner myself. I also have continued what she started for our students by coaching the Cross Country and Track Teams at Noah Webster. Our teams have been the largest and most competitive in the city Middle School league and we will strive to continue this trend. I also am the coordinator for the 241 Sport programs we have available at Noah Webster to our students in 1st-8th grade. The morning sport recreation program (TOP SELF) and our Fencing program provide opportunities for our students to learn new skills that encourages support, teamwork, and builds their positive self through sports. I am fundraising for this team to support 241 Sports so that these programs can continue for our 75 or so students who so look forward to participating every day. So please support by donating any amount to the Noah Webster page to ensure that these programs continue. I pledge to run hard in October and will use the inspiration from the donors and supporters, all my students, and Katy's spirit to finish what she graciously started.
