‘I Got You Reno’ Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for Nevada’s First and Only Furniture Bank

RENO, Nev. (November 26, 2025) — Nevada’s first and only furniture bank, I Got You Reno, will celebrate the grand opening of its new South Reno facility with a community ribbon cutting on December 1 at 5 p.m. This milestone marks a transformative moment for Northern Nevada, as the new location will expand the organization’s capacity to furnish safe, dignified homes throughout the region, filling a long-standing gap in essential support services.

For more than two years, I Got You Reno has been a critical lifeline for individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, recovering from crises or simply working to rebuild stability.

“I built I Got You Reno on the belief that dignity begins at home,” said Founder and Executive Director Marsha Cuddy-Brasel. “A bed to sleep in, a table to share a meal at, a sofa where a child can read or rest — these are not luxuries. They are the foundation of safety, stability, and a sense of belonging. A furnished home reduces the return to homelessness by 50 percent.”

I Got You Reno’s mission is to relieve some of the cognitive, emotional and financial burdens experienced by those in housing transition. “With our new facility, we can reach more households, eliminate transportation barriers, and deliver essential furniture so families can focus their limited resources on rent, childcare, and basic needs. A furnished home is often the turning point that allows people to rebuild,” Cuddy-Brasel said.

Cuddy-Brasel clarified a major misconception. “People often assume that when a family receives housing assistance, their home comes furnished. It does not,” she said. “Families receive a key and walk into an empty unit. They must somehow find everything it takes to make that space livable.”

The reality for children in Northern Nevada is stark. “If the community truly knew how many children in Washoe County are sleeping on floors, they would be outraged,” she continued. “No child should go to sleep without a bed. Not here, not anywhere.”

I Got You Reno will support thousands of Nevadans annually. As demand grows, the nonprofit is welcoming funding partners, sponsors and community supporters to help sustain and expand operations.

“We are inviting local businesses, philanthropists and community leaders to join us in shaping the future of this work,” Cuddy-Brasel said. “Nevadans are the most generous people I have ever met. When we come together, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome. Together, we can create real, lasting impact in Northern Nevada.”

Partnership opportunities include community-level sponsorships, corporate leadership support, volunteer programs, in-kind donations and room sponsorships that contribute to furnishing an entire home for a family in need.

The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting celebration, tour the new facility and learn more about how to support Nevada’s first furniture bank.
