I am trying to rapidly raise $500 for a refugee PhD student and father at Istanbul Technical University who is about to be evicted from his apartment in Istanbul simply because his landlord wants to raise the rent. To force him to leave, the landlord has cut the electricity and heating, and the student has been in cold and darkness for the past five days. The landlord then threatened him. The student is unable to leave and find a new apartment because he needs $500 to get his residency permit renewed. This is an urgent appeal to help raise the funds for him to renew his residency permit and allow him to find a new, safe apartment. This is an extremely hardworking, deserving student who has endured unfathomable hardships over the past five years.
