The Tool Library will always have my heart!
This amazing nonprofit is exactly what it sounds like: Members can borrow tools (power drills, shovels, pressure washers, sanders, etc.) for a small annual fee.
The Tool Library started in my neighborhood, University Heights, and it is now just minutes away, next to Amherst Station in Buffalo. I was one of the organization's first members, and I am a long-time volunteer. My commitment to The Tool Library is a commitment to a strong civil society, and an investment in the city I love.
In addition to loaning out tools, The Tool Library has partnered with neighbors and community activists over many years to organize or support projects like planting 1,000+ trees, establishing a community garden and creating the North Buffalo Rails to Trails project (the bike and pedestrian path that runs from LaSalle Station up to Kenmore Ave.).
In an age where so much (too much?) of life takes place on the Internet, The Tool Library is building community, connecting people to each other and making the physical spaces we share beautiful.
I have made lifelong friends through The Tool Library, and as a resident of the city, I have been so grateful for the organization's work.
I hope you will join me in this campaign, as The Tool Library finally buys a home of its own. Let's build something great together! Thank you!
