This Spring, we also honor our founder, Josie Whittlesey, whose vision and dedication have manifested a powerful, creative space for healing, joy, and justice. What began as a bold idea has grown into a movement — and your participation helps ensure it continues to soar. The night will be full of connection and celebration, with exclusive raffle and auction prizes, laughter, and interactive fun. 📣 We Are Drama Club!

Drama Club is a nonprofit that brings theater and improv to young people impacted by the juvenile justice system. We run programs at Rikers Island, Horizon, and Crossroads juvenile detention centers, as well as alternative-to-detention and post-incarceration programs. Through high-energy workshops, we provide a creative outlet where young people build confidence, communication skills, and emotional resilience while learning to collaborate and express themselves.

Our Apprentice Program engages formerly incarcerated and court-involved youth annually in 6 - 8 hours of paid weekly personal and professional development workshops. Apprentices work closely with our full-time LMSW, & MSW Interns, and Teaching Artist mentors to recognize and acknowledge their strengths and challenges and to set personal goals for brighter futures.

We believe storytelling has the power to heal, connect, and inspire, and we are committed to creating spaces where every young person feels seen, heard, and valued—on stage, in their communities, classrooms, and beyond.
