First Nations Performing Arts (FNPA) is an Indigenous-led initiative that increases visibility of Indigenous performing arts workers while decolonizing the performing arts field.
Founded in 2021 by Emily Johnson, FNPA has focuses on kinship-building through convening and events, increasing access to resources through bridge-building between Indigenous artists and Indigenous organizations as well as settler institutions, and working to educate and decolonize through our Decolonization Track for ally arts administrative leaders.
Currently, FNPA consists of a team of 5 Indigenous femmes, working in conjunction with their own artistic practices (dance, theatre, music, visual art, writing, performance art). Emily Johnson and Ronee Penoi- co-leads, Danielle Jagelski- producer, Maura García- kinship manager, Kalyn Kendig- administrator, Vanessa Pereda- special projects manager.
