Our two rescue boys, Barneby and Nyx, came to Soulstride Sanctuary straight from the auction pipeline. As many of you know, that often means mystery histories, stressed immune systems, and little bugs that show up once they finally feel safe enough to settle.

This week, both boys came down with something. No fevers now, but a swollen lymph node in BB, some inflammation on labs, and a lot of monitoring while we wait for respiratory testing to come back.

We’re hoping it’s just a cold, but like most auction horses, we won’t know for sure until the results land.

This is all incredibly normal for rescues… but it still takes a lot of time, care, and resources to support their healing.

We’ve had the vet out, started medicine and herbal support, refreshed their shavings, and stocked up on everything they need to stay comfortable and strong while their bodies do the work.
