My name is Sam, and this summer I've been accepted as a student at Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM).

I am a very passionate musician playing almost every instrument I can get my hands on. I mainly play bass trombone, but also can proficiently play tenor trombone and trumpet. I also am learning clarinet and flute when I’m not playing trombone. I also enjoy working out and throwing discus, shot put, and javelin during track season. I also often play solos and with a professional ensemble at my church.

I played lead trombone in middle school and high school jazz band also often playing solos. I am first chair in middle school and high school band and, had a solo during my first (and currently my only) season of marching band. I am first chair in the Topeka Youth Symphony, and also played lead trombone in two jazz combos and a jazz workshop at Washburn University.

I want to attend LSM to grow as a musician and be able to spread my knowledge to future students, as I intend to be a high school band director. I want to get the knowledge from the different minds and people at LSM, and combine my knowledge with other professors and great minds I've met in music!

I'm raising funds to help my family better afford the four-week LSM academy. Thank you so much for your generosity, and for any contribution you give!

Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM) is the nation’s premier faith-based music academy for high school students. In addition to advanced musical instruction and numerous performance opportunities, LSM students form an intentional community, living together for four weeks on a Lutheran college campus. Since 1981, this unique and immersive program has guided the lives of young musicians who credit LSM as the starting place for their future careers and vocations.

LSM was founded to celebrate and extend the rich musical heritage of the Lutheran church. Our founders believed that by providing high-quality training and performance opportunities to young musicians they could cultivate a lifelong love of classical and sacred music, thus preserving these art forms for generations to come.
