Two Roots Montessori is a nonprofit early childhood program/Elementary School serving children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. Founded by two Montessori directors and mothers who saw a need for more accessible, high-quality early education, our mission is to create a nurturing, child-led environment where every young learner can grow deep roots and flourish.

We are almost ready to open our doors this winter. Our classrooms are prepared, our teachers are in place, and families are already on our waitlist.
But before we can receive our license from the Department of Education, there is one final requirement we must meet:

The Required Fire System Upgrade

We recently learned that the fire system in our education wing needs a full upgrade in order to meet Tennessee licensing standards for early childhood programs.

This includes:

New fire panel
Sprinkler upgrades
Wiring replacements
Additional detectors & connected alarms
Integration with local fire monitoring

Although the building already meets fire code for church use, childcare licensing requires a higher level of protection, ensuring infants and young children have the safest possible environment.

The total cost for this upgrade is $45,000, and it must be completed before we can open

A Shared Space, A Shared Benefit

Our classrooms are lovingly housed inside Woodmont Hills Church, a partner that has welcomed us with open arms. These rooms aren’t just for our students they also serve the church community, including the children who attend Sunday programs.

This upgrade will improve fire safety for every child who enters this building, now and for decades to come.

We are grateful for a church family that believes in creating environments where children can grow safely and confidently.

Why We’re Fundraising

As a nonprofit school, every dollar goes directly back into children, families, and our community. This unexpected requirement came at the end of our startup process, after we had carefully allocated funds toward licensing, materials, staff training, Montessori materials, facilities, and insurance.

The timing also arrives during the holiday season, which we know is already a stretch for many families. Your gift, at any amount, helps us cross the final threshold toward opening our doors to children this winter.

Every contribution makes a meaningful difference:

$50 helps support wiring and detectors
$150 supports fire-safety materials for one classroom zone
$250 helps supply connectors and integration equipment
$500 supports sprinkler system enhancements
$1,000 sponsors a day of contractor work
$5,000 becomes a Founding Safety Partner, helping complete major system components
