Family Life Ministries (FLM) is inviting you to partner with us in extending the reach of our counseling services by contributing to the expansion of our physical plant. This expansion project is now in the planning stages and we hope to secure the requisite funds by the end of this year via fund-raising.

FLM was established in 1983, initially in response to a perceived deterioration in family life in Jamaica. It was established as a faith-based, non-denominational entity, operating on a not-for-profit basis.

The founders began by providing facilitators and experts on relevant topics for church and wider community. These programmes were designed to educate and sensitize persons towards resolution of various challenging family issues. Radio programmes (Family Time and Family Talk) and Counselling services evolved. In the first instance, these provided a forum for nation-wide airing and discussion of family life-related issues and secondly, to assist persons to resolve their life challenges. Since 1983, FLM has been offering professional counseling services to a wide cross-section of the Jamaican population as well as to clients all over the world via on-line platforms.

The building that now houses FLM’s Counselling Centre at 1 Cecelio Avenue, Half-Way-Tree in Kingston, was acquired, renovated and furnished through the generous contributions of several donors. It was officially opened in January 2002. Since then, the clientele has grown significantly, to the extent that we have not been able to accommodate the increasing number of persons seeking our services. The Centre is arguably the largest such facility in the English-speaking Caribbean.

We are therefore planning to add four new counseling rooms as well as an additional male/female restroom to meet current needs as well as the expected increase in clientele for the foreseeable future.

Our research has indicated that the most cost-effective building option at this time is to use containers retro-fitted as counseling rooms. We have been in discussion with Mr. Louis Aiken of Tankweld Limited in this regard, and he has undertaken to have the containers built and placed on our property at Cecelio Avenue.

The estimated cost is J$8-10 million (US$49,689- $62,111). Our plan is to raise the required funds by December 2025. Projections are that once funds are secured, construction could be completed by February 2026.
